Recent Events featuring HotScotch Ceilidh Band in Edinburgh and Crieff

HotScotch recently performed at two fantastic functions in Teviot Row, Edinburgh and Crieff Hydro. The ceilidh in Edinburgh was organised by the Edinburgh University Hare & Hounds Running Club who had a race weekend involving teams from around the UK. It was fantastic to have such an enthusiasic and energetic crowd of youg people in the Debating Hall of Teviot Row, and the floor was full of dancers throughout the ceilidh.

The Ceilidh at Crieff Hydro was a corporate function for a medical conference and HotScotch Ceilidh Band provided the after-dinner entertainment. The dancing took place in the Ferntower Suite which has a super function room complete with a stage at one end. Crieff Hydro is a venue where this Scottish Ceilidh Band play regularly and is also a great place to hold weddings and other functions.

HotScotch Ceilidh Band at The Lot – Grassmarket, Edinburgh – 9th Nov

On Tuesday 9th November, the ceilidh band are guests of the Ceilidh Club at The Lot in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket.
The ceilidh club at the Lot runs every Tuesday evening from 8pm in one of Edinburgh’s finest acoustic music venues, holding up to 80 people.

Lovely feedback recieved from wedding at Otterburn Tower

Hi HotScotch Ceilidh Band!
I’m sorry its taken so long to thank you, but myself and husband would like to let you know how fantastic you made our wedding (30th July at Otterburn Tower.)
Your playing was superb and you were professional and organised throughout! The disco and the lights were super!
All of our friends and family- including those who are not Scottish, enjoyed the ceilidh and are even now still talking about how much fun it was! Looking back on the day- I don’t think I missed a single dance, I was having that much fun!
We would certainly reccommend you guys- and if we ever decide to have a ceilidh again you will be the first people we contact!

Some recent events from this Scottish Ceilidh Band

Albert Halls, Stirling

On Friday 1st October HotScotch Ceilidh Band were playing for a wedding in the Albert Halls, Stirling. This is a magnificent venue, and the mixture of Scottish and Australian guests proved a winning combination for a fabulous night of Ceilidh Dancing. The floor was full all evening with enthusiastic dancers, and the final Orcadian Strip the Willow was followed by Auld Lang Syne to end the night.

The following evening, HotScotch played at Houston House, Uphall which was another super night of Ceilidh Dancing from this Edinburgh Ceilidh Band.

HotScotch Ceilidh Band play in Monaco

On 28th August, HotScotch Ceilidh Band from Edinburgh were invited out to play in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The band is led by Paul Chamberlain on accordion, with Christine Anderson – fiddle and Jim Walker – drums.

They were providing a Scottish ceilidh for guests on board the super-yacht “Christina O” as part of a wedding celebration with a Scottish connection. 

 It was a fantastic occasion and the ceilidh went down very well, with popular ceilidh dance favourites such as Strip the Willow and The Eightsome Reel, on the rear deck of the boat.

Certainly a most memorable event for this Scottish ceilidh band, and enjoyed by the mixture of French and Scottish guests. Their next function is in the magnificent Stirling Castle on Saturday 4th September.

Sat 14th August – A great night at Abden House

On Saturday 14th August, HotScotch Ceilidh Band were playing for a wedding at Abden House, Edinburgh. The function took place in a marquee in the grounds of Abden House, part of the Pollock House Edinburgh University complex. The guests were all very enthusiastic about the ceilidh dancing and kept the floor filled throughout the night. The final dance was the Orcadian Strip the Willow, which ran the whole length of the marquee with around 40 couples dancing which was very impressive!

The ceilidh band also recieved a lovely email from the bride’s parents to say how much they had enjoyed the evening.

My husband and I wish to say a big thank you for your excellent music and calling at our daughter’s wedding celebration at Abden House last Saturday, 14th August. The great atmosphere of fun and happiness said it all. All those guests from south of the border and many other countries just loved it and were up there dancing away the whole evening, many having thought it would be too dificult for them!

We’ll certainly recommend you.

Turmeau Hall and Kings Hall

August has begun with a busy weekend again for the band. On Friday 6th August, HotScotch were playing for a wedding at Craighouse, Edinburgh. The beautiful Turmeau Hall within the Edinburgh Napier University Campus provided the venue for the evening reception. With a lively group of guests, and many on the groom’s side from Ireland the ceilidh was off to a roaring start and the floor was filled throughout the evening. After a spot of disco following the buffet, the evening concluded with a return of the ceilidh band through to the end of a very enjoyable night.

Saturday evening saw the ceilidh band return to play again in the George Hotel in Edinburgh. This spectacular venue boasts the impressive Kings Hall for it’s functions, along with great accoustics for live music.

Fantastic Night South of the Border with HotScotch Ceilidh Band at Otterburn Tower Hotel

On Friday 30th of July, HotScotch Ceilidh Band travelled over the border to play for the wedding of Emma and Kari Campbell at Otterburn Tower Hotel. This fantastic historic building provided a stunning setting for a wedding and the marquee in which the reception was held was beautifully decorated. There was a super party atmosphere and great anticipation of the ceilidh dancing that was to come.

With the tables moved back as far as possible, the floor was filled with dancers right from the start. When it came to the Virginia Reel, a few sets had to find spaces to dance in other parts of the marquee so that everybody could fit in.

It was fantastic to see everybody having a go and joining in, including some of Kari’s family from Finland who had never done Scottish ceilidh dancing before. After the buffet, the DJ took over for a set of disco music which included some classic favourites requested by the bride and groom.

As the last track from the DJ signalled the resumption of the ceilidh dancing, a loud cheer rose from the crowd as they assembled back into sets for the Dashing White Sargeant. The night ended with the Orcadian Strip the Willow, followed by Auld Lang Syne.

Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel Wedding Ceilidh – 25th July 2010

The band were playing for a wedding at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel, just outside Edinburgh on Sunday 25th July. With a lively crowd of guests, the ceilidh was a hit and the first set of Ceilidh Dances took us up to the buffet. This was followed by around an hour of disco before the band returned to play for the final part of the evening filling the floor once again with dancers righ tup to the end of the night. Congratulations again to Joanna and Kevin.
