Jim Walker
Drums
Born in Canada, Jim returned to his Scottish roots in 1984 and has since established an outstanding reputation as both a performer and educator. Highly regarded for his expertise in pipe band drumming, percussion and drum kit, he taught for many years at Merchiston Castle School and Fettes College, and continues to teach at Edinburgh College and Cargilfield School.
As a performer, Jim has enjoyed a varied and distinguished career. He spent several years touring with the acclaimed folk band Ceolbeg and has also performed alongside some of Scotland's best-known traditional musicians, including Aly Bain, Phil Cunningham, Sandy Brechin and The Wrigley Sisters. In addition to his work in traditional music, Jim is also a member of the blues band The Jensen Interceptors.
Jim has been an integral part of HotScotch since the band's very first performance in 2006. His inventive playing, musical sensitivity and driving rhythms provide the foundation of the band's distinctive sound, helping to keep dance floors full wherever HotScotch performs.
