Ceilidhs, Concerts & Jazz

Updated: Jan 11, 2020

Last weekend was another busy one for us, with three different performances, each with a different line-up and style of music.

On Friday the ceilidh band were playing for the annual Advice Scotland awards night at the Central Hotel in Glasgow. After the awards presentation we got the ceilidh dancing started.

Saturday evening saw Paul and Michael playing for a private event in the Scottish Borders - this time with a combination of Fiddle and Piano for the ceilidh dancing interspersed by a few jazz numbers with Michael on the Alto Saxophone.

On Sunday Paul and Michael again teamed up in their duo "Chamberlain & Haywood" to put on a concert in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh. This magnificent church situated on the Royal Mile holds a concert every Sunday evening. There was a very appreciative audience and the concert programme included pieces by Piazzolla, Monti, Saint-Saëns, Galliano, as well as some traditional Balkan and Eastern European tunes.

This year the Gathering is heading to the Trossachs, part of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and home of more large-scale ecological restoration projects than you can shake a birch seedling at. It will be based in the village of Aberfoyle, from the 4th to the 6th of October, with a weekend of talks, visits and workshops, plus the Buildings Tour in the lead-up on Friday. you can find out more about the event by following the link below -
