Another top night of ceilidh dancing in Edinburgh!

Updated: Jan 11, 2020

Last Tuesday 3rd of September we played for the first ceilidh of the new season at Edinburgh Ceilidh Club. The regular weekly ceilidh's take a break in August during the Edinburgh Festival and the venue is awash with fringe shows for the month.

It was another full house and the dancers raring to go by kick-off at 8pm. The mixture of regular dancers, occasional dancer and ceilidh novices proves a winning formula and always makes for a great energy-filled evening.

We started off the evening in traditional style with a Gay Gordons, and included dances such as Military Two-Step, Strip the Willow, Virginia Reel, Dashing White Sergeant and the ever-popular Cumberland Square Eight, and a couple of our favourites, the Troika and the Borrowdale Exchange.

Here is a little whirl through some of the dances we played for at Edinburgh Ceilidh Club on the 3rd of September.

In order, they are - Dashing White Sergeant, Military Two-Step, St Bernard's Waltz, Virginia Reel, Troika, Strip the Willow, Canadian Barn Dance, Gay Gordons, Orcadian Strip the Willow.

This weekend we will be playing in Glasgow, the Scottish Borders and then two of the members of the band Michael and Paul will be giving a concert on Sunday 15th in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh as part of their weekly St Giles at 6 concert series. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear Chamberlain & Haywood for free as they perform their unique take on world music. You can find out more about the duo here. www.chamberlain-haywood.com
