A Cake, A Conference and some Songs

Updated: Jan 11, 2020

Last weekend we played for a lovely wedding at Norton House Hotel on the outskirts of Edinburgh. This time it was our two-piece option of Accordion and Drums. The Garden Suite was beautifully decorated and with a large contingent of Italians amongst the wedding guests, they loved the ceilidh dancing and were full of enthusiasm and energy all evening.

On Tuesday night, we were at Kippiealaw House in the Scottish Borders - a country house set in it's own grounds and a lovely setting for a wedding. There were a few songs too - prior to the ceilidh all the guests went down to the "wedding tree" in the garden and sang with solo fiddle accompaniment from Michael Haywood. Then a very special version of the Wild Rover was sung to the happy couple - with new personalised lyrics written specially for the occasion.

Saturday night was us up in Aberfoyle playing at the Dounans Outdoor Centre for the Reforesting Scotland Annual Gathering. A full night of dancing with all our favourites such as the Cumberland Square Eight, Borrowdale Exchange, Dashing White Sergeant, Troika, and of course Strip the Willow and all the other traditional ceilidh dances.
