December is always a hectic time of the year and as one of the premier ceilidh bands in Edinburgh, HotScotch were kept busy playing for functions throughout the month.
These included several regular events such as the annual Merchiston Castle School Highland Ball, the MAPE Christmas Ceilidh for all the PE Students at Edinburgh University, The Ratho Winter Ceilidh and of course the Hogmanay Ceilidh at Assembly Roxy, with Laldie Ceilidhs.

All of these events bring together dancers of all abilities and the fantastic thing about ceilidh dancing is you don't need any prior experience to join in - just enthusiasm!

HotScotch teach all the steps for the dances as we go through the night and once you've done a few dances even the most novice dancers will feel they have become familiar with the basic moves of the ceilidh dances.
We also really enjoyed hearing some fantastic young pipers playing at a birthday party ceilidh in The Royal Scots Club just before Christmas.
Our annual Winter Ceilidh in Ratho has become very popular and was sold out long before the date. Tickets will be available soon for the 2026 ceilidh.
We really love bringing in the New Year in Edinburgh and this year's Laldie Hogmamnay Ceilidh in Edinburgh's Assembly Roxy was a wonderful celebration with a full floor of enthusiastic dancers including many first timers and visitors to Scotland.
As one of the busies ceilidh bands in Edinburgh, we thank everybody who has booked us to play in 2025 and look forward to another exciting year of Weddings, Parties and Events in 2026 as we bring the fun of ceilidh dancing to many more.
